Rob Bilott’s Keynote: A Timely Godsend for Wetland-Based PFAS bio-geo-degradation

This past Sunday at Sarasota Yacht Club, the Board of Directors of Just Add Wetlands (JAW) had the privilege of hearing Rob Bilott deliver a keynote that could not have come at a more pivotal moment. His deep dive into PFAS contamination—and his pointed remarks on Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) used for firefighting—underscored the urgency of addressing “forever chemicals” in our environment. His insights on AFFF and the broader implications of PFAS were both sobering and motivating.

The timing couldn’t have been better: just hours before the inaugural Board of Directors meeting for Just Add Wetlands. Rob’s words set the tone for our discussion and reinforced our commitment to advancing PFAS remediation strategies through nature-based solutions.

Grateful to share the experience with our entire board: Melissa Strassner, Allen Stewart, Nan Ryan, and myself.

Thank you, Rob, for your dedication and for inspiring so many of us to keep pushing forward.
