Founded — Just Add Wetlands a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!!!

If you keep updated with these WEL Blog entries it will come as no surprise that I founded JAW. In putting the State and Federal 501(c)(3) documents together, realizing less that 23% of the US population is even aware these PFAS, the applications included an Addendum, Preface - to the JAW Purpose Statement. Bottom-line, the mission of this Not-For-Profit follows below:

It is the Purpose of JUST ADD WETLANDS, CORPORATION (JAW) to contribute to the global scientific research of Per and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) biodegradation through reduction/oxidation chemical reactions within wetlands. Remediation of Forever Chemicals through a cost-effective nature-based solution favors furthering the scientific knowledge base for PFAS remediation. This Purpose serves society at large, wildlife, our environments, but most importantly global water quality.

In laboratory and pilot scale studies, reduction/oxidation chemical reactions which occur within aerobic/anaerobic conditions, have shown to remove an electron from PFAS chemical molecules! When this electron is removed (or oxidized) its like opening the doors for molecule degradation. The by products of which are methane gas, and salts. This is cutting edge as there is no filtration or sequestration, the PFAS molecules are destroyed by the redox reactions within wetlands.

JAW will take the laboratory to the landscape to destroy these manmade toxic substances. And do so without creating a toxic byproduct! The requirement is land, engineered wetland creation or restoration, and scheduled repeated hydrologic regimes.
