UF Invites JAW to Present New Pathways for PFAS Remediation
The University of Florida’s Odum Center for Wetlands—home to some of the nation’s most influential ecological research—has invited Just Add Wetlands (JAW) to present its latest work on PFAS degradation. The seminar, scheduled for 11:45 am, February 11, 2026, will outline how constructed and restored wetlands can create the biochemical conditions required to break apart PFAS molecules using microbial activity and redox‑driven processes.
This presentation marks a milestone for JAW. It reflects growing academic interest in wetland‑based PFAS remediation and underscores the urgency of developing scalable, ecosystem‑driven solutions within the State of Florida. With statewide regulatory uncertainty following the vacatur of Florida’s Section 404 program—and rising PFAS detections in estuaries, bays, and freshwater systems—wetlands offer one of the few pathways that combine compliance with ecological function.
For WEL, the seminar demonstrates the strategic alignment between private environmental practice and nonprofit scientific advancement. We look forward to sharing updates, key insights, and the recorded presentation after the UF event.
